Randy Halberstadt has been a major figure on the Pacific Northwest jazz scene for many years. A multi-dimensional pianist, he is equally comfortable playing be-bop, latin, down-home blues, standards and his own compositions. He has performed with Herb Ellis, Terry Gibbs, Buddy de Franco, Matt Wilson, Pete Christlieb, and many others including with Mel Brown at the Monterey Jazz Festival.
He is first-call accompanies and arranger for singers including Kevin Mahogany, Dee Daniels, Greta Matassa, Nancy Kelley, Janis Mann, Meredith d'Ambrosia. He has also appeared with Jay Clayton at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C.
Randy is also a first rate composer. He has numerous recordings of his compositions in a jazz trio setting and with Jay Clayton and other notable singers performing his compositions.
While continuing to expand his talents as a pianist composer, arranger and accompanist, he has taken equal pleasure in helping younger musicians fulfill their potential. He is a full professor at the Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle couching ensembles, teaching jazz theory, piano and ear training. He is much sought after teacher at Jazz Port Townsend, the Blaine Jazz Festival and a highly sought-after private teacher. Susan is delighted to be one of his students.
Our Valentine's Concert is always special with champagne and chocolates. Remember, it won't be the same without you.
